Mr. Hamid Arabzadeh has been the Chairman, President and CEO of RANOVUS since its inception in 2012.
Prior to RANOVUS, Mr. Arabzadeh was the Chairman, President and CEO of CoreOptics, a leading provider of 10/40/100Gbps optical subsystems for high-capacity networking applications, before being acquired by Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) in 2010.
Formerly, Mr. Arabzadeh held various senior management positions at Nortel Networks in Latin America, Europe and North America. Mr. Arabzadeh’s last role at Nortel was VP & GM of Metro Optical business unit with business responsibilities for SDH (OM4000), DWDM (Cambrian Acquisition OM5000) and Multiservice OM6500 (Viking).
Prior to joining Nortel, Mr. Arabzadeh was the President of UNICAD information systems, a custom CAD/CAM software development company in Canada. Mr. Arabzadeh is an Angel investor in startups in the Mobile, Cloud and Security market segments.
Mr. Arabzadeh holds a B.A.Sc. from University of Waterloo in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MBA from McGill University. He enjoys soccer, tennis, and downhill skiing.
Mr. Saeid Aramideh serves as the Chief Marketing & Sales Officer of RANOVUS since its inception in 2012.
Responsible for all aspects of RANOVUS’ marketing and commercial strategies, Mr. Aramideh’s efforts are focused on achieving global deployment of RANOVUS’ technology and a path towards profitability.
Previously, Mr. Aramideh held the position of Senior Vice President of Marketing, Business Development and Sales for CoreOptics Inc., until its acquisition by Cisco Systems in 2010. During his seven-year tenure with CoreOptics, Mr. Aramideh led the company’s annual sales generation and ramp to over $50 MUS as well as the deployment of the CoreOptics’ Distortion Tolerant portfolio of 10G MLSE and 40G/100G Coherent optical subsystems in over 15 service provider networks.
Mr. Aramideh has held executive level positions at Iolon, Corvis and Nortel Networks in product development, marketing and sales. During his tenure at Corvis, Mr. Aramideh played a major role in the introduction of an innovative Ultra-Long Haul transport (CorWave ONG) platform and in securing wins for the world’s first Optical Routing/Switching products to various tier-1 global service providers.
Mr. Aramideh holds a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and as well as an MBA from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
Mr. Madavi is currently President of SPM Capital, a private fund focusing on investments within semiconductor and communications markets.
Mr. Madavi’s career has encompassed managing a number of public and private businesses, including as Chairman, President and CEO of Burr-Brown Corporation; President and board member of JDS Uniphase; Senior Vice President of Texas Instruments; President of Raytheon Semiconductor; and President-Founder of Honeywell Signal Processing Technologies.
Mr. Madavi received his BS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Computer Sciences from Stevens Institute of Technology, and an MBA in finance from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Mr. Madavi has served on the boards of number of public and private companies as chairman and board member, including being Chairman of Burr-Brown, Aurora Networks, On Semiconductor, Avanex Corporation and Akros Silicon, as well as being board member of JDS Uniphase, Metalink Communications, Centilium Communications and CoreOptics Inc. He is currently Chairman of InVisiage Technologies, and board member of SG Micro and RANOVUS Inc.
Paul Ferris is a founding General Partner with Azure Capital Partners and has over 21 years experience working with high growth technology companies, with the past 15 years investing directly in communications technology, mobile, cloud applications and infrastructure, e-commerce, gaming and digital media related companies for Azure.
During his career, Paul has helped drive over 30 very successful venture backed outcomes, both as an investor and adviser. Prior to founding Azure in 2000, Paul worked at several investment banks, including Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was the Global Head of the Communications Investment Banking Group, and at Deutsche Bank Securities and Morgan Stanley, where he focused on emerging technology companies.
Paul received his B.A. degrees in Computer Science and English from Amherst College, where he graduated summa cum laude.
In his role as Managing Director of OMERS Ventures, Jim Orlando is responsible for leading investment activities in the North American market focusing on high-growth companies in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors. With more than 14 years of experience in the venture capital and private equity sectors, Jim has a strong track record of finding deals, closing investments, and in working with strong founders, CEOs and management teams on the ongoing development and growth of their businesses. He is responsible for OMERS Ventures’ investments in BuildDirect.com (www.builddirect.com ), RANOVUS (www.ranovus.com ), Shopify (www.shopify.com ) and Wattpad (www.wattpad.com).
Prior to joining OMERS Ventures, Jim was a Managing Director at OMERS Private Equity, which directly owns and actively manages a diversified, multi-billion dollar portfolio of investments in North America and Europe. Jim was involved with direct investments in the software, manufacturing, mobile and retail sectors.
Prior to that he held key roles with Bell Canada Capital and Battery Ventures in Silicon Valley, and also has ten years of operational experience in the telecom industry.
Jim holds Bachelor of Computer Engineering and Management, and Master of Electrical Engineering degrees from McMaster University.
Larry Lam is a Partner in the BDC Capital Industrial, Clean and Energy (ICE) Technology Venture Fund leading investments in early and development stage companies and supporting founders, CEOs and management teams to build successful global companies. Larry is responsible for BDC Capital’s investments in Corsa Technology, Ranovus, Regen Energy and Solantro Semiconductor.
Prior to joining the ICE Technology Venture Fund, Larry was an Investment Director at BDC Capital in the areas of energy, environment, electronics and materials and focused on seed stage investing.
Prior to joining BDC in 2003, Larry was an entrepreneur/founder, with over 18 years of operating experience and held senior management roles in marketing, product development and R&D in early stage private semiconductor companies.
Larry holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a BASc (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Waterloo.
